No Link Between Cured Meat and Pancreatic Cancer
A new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology has found no evidence that eating cured meat increases the risk of pancreatic cancer.
A number of recent studies have hinted that eating cured meat such as ham or hot dogs could increase the risk of cancer since the preservatives used in curing the meat are known to cause tumors in animals.

However researchers from the National Cancer Institute polled over 300,000 adults regarding a 124-item food questionnaire and found that just over 1,000 people suffered from pancreatic cancer over the next 10 years.

While the risk of pancreatic cancer increased slightly among men who ate highest amount of cured meat, the researchers said that the increase was so small that they can put it down to chance. There was no increased risk of suffering from the cancer among women.
