More and more people in Europe are struggling to cope with noises coming out of their neighbours house, a new survey reveals.
More than half of those surveyed by Which? Legal Service complained of loud voices or arguing coming from their neighbour’s house. Other major complaints include sounds from music system or television, slamming of doors and noises from parties.Around 60 percent complained that the noise meant they were unable to sleep properly while 10 percent saw a downturn in their general health due to irritation and stress.
“Noisy neighbours can make life a misery, and our research shows that people are losing sleep, struggling at work and arguing with their partners, all because of disturbances from next door. People shouldn't suffer in silence. If talking amicably with your neighbour about the problem doesn't work, then contact your local authority who will be able to investigate the matter for you”, Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said.
