To give an impetus to healthcare in Assam, two new health schemes are being rolled out this year.

State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that an announcement to this effect will be made during the visit of the Union Health Minister Ambubani Ramadoss on July 8, 2008.

A fund of Rs.50 crore has been allocated for this scheme during the first year which will improve health services by providing a well equipped ambulance with ICU in every block, to help critical patients from far flung areas.
