President Barack Obama has confirmed that though he supports the initiative to block ‘Plan B’ emergency contraceptive from being sold to young girls without a prescription, he did nothing to influence the decision taken by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

The decision taken by Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services overruled the decision of the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. Following this ruling, the emergency contraceptive pill cannot be sold by drugstores without a prescription.
