A recent study revealed that women at different work places were at higher risk for breast cancer. According to it, women who worked or have grown up on a farm have a risk of breast cancer that is 3 times higher than non-farm workers.
The study also found out that women working in healthcare and car making were at 4 times higher risk for breast cancer than the national average. This study, conducted by researchers at the Stirling University, raised an alarm over the potential risks of weed killers and chemicals containing chorine.An estimated 137 deaths of Scottish women every year could occur due to breast cancer hastened by their work. However, more research is needed to ascertain the association between various jobs and cancer.
According to the researchers, the study substantiates the need for better control of potentially harmful chemicals.
