The education car will be taken to crowded places and video clippings containing information on types of cancers, symptoms, early detection and medication will be shown.

Oncology Institute Launches Cancer Awareness Program on Wheels in Mangaluru, India
To create awareness among public on early detection of cancer, Mangalore Institute of Oncology (MIO) has launched an indigenously built mobile cancer education car that will tour various parts of the region.
The 'Cancer Awareness Program on Wheels' campaign aims at educating general public on various aspects cancer and thereby join the fight for cancer eradication. The campaign was launched by deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on September 21. Oncologists Suresh Rao, Sanath Rao and Jalaluddin Akbar said that there has been a great increase in the number of cancer cases in India and in Mangaluru. Dr Akbar said the Innova car that has an LED screen will be moving in and around Dakshina Kannada district to create awareness on early detection and proper medication.

Resource persons in the car will be interacting with general public as a step towards cancer prevention, he said. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. The increase for this has been the tobacco habits, faulty lifestyle and myths about the disease. Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim said that the Cancer Awareness Program on Wheels of MIO will be an additional push for various health schemes of the government.
