The World Food Programme, which runs 220 feeding centres in Burundi, said 46 percent of all children under five in the country were malnourished.The World Food Day is meant to raise awareness on ways to alleviate hunger and malnutrition.
Burundi, one of the world's poorest countries, is struggling from the devastation of a 14-year war that killed some 300,000 people.
Around two-thirds of its 7.6 million people live in dire poverty.
