One More Important Reason to Breastfeed
A recent analysis of 18 different research has shown that infants who are breastfed have a reduced risk of SIDS or sudden infant death syndrome.
Researchers found that the risk of SIDS was 60 percent lower among infants who are breastfed as compared to infants who are on formula milk. The risk of dying from SIDS is 70 percent lower in infants who are breastfed exclusively.

The study authors believe that there definitely is a connection between breastfeeding and reduction in the risk of SIDS, though the reason is still not very clear. One of the reasons could perhaps be that breastfeeding offers the baby maximum protection against other infections.

Researchers  also found that along with breastfeeding, infants that slept in the same room as their parents, not necessarily on the same bed, had a lower risk of dying from SIDS.
