A one week old baby has created a world record by being the youngest patient to successfully undergo a brain tumor surgery.

A one week old baby has created a world record by being the youngest patient to successfully undergo a brain tumor surgery.

Madison Quartarone, who was found to have a large benign growth, has been recovering well after going under three "embilisation" operations at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

In "embilisation" operations, arteries are injected with glue to cut off blood supply to a tumour

Scans after the surgery revealed that her tumour had shrunk.

Thus, Madison, now eight weeks, could go home in Bedford for Christmas with mum Charlene Smith.

"I am not aware of anyone as young as Madison having this treatment. It could be ground-breaking," the Sun quoted Neurosurgeon Dominic Thompson as saying.

Grandfather Ian Chandler said: "She's amazed everyone."
