Operation Room V-sign by Nurse Triggers Outrage

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust was forced to issue an apology after snaps showing a nurse making a V-sign over an unconscious patient appeared on Facebook.

The Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust was forced to issue an apology after snaps showing a nurse making a V-sign over an unconscious patient appeared on Facebook.

A former patient at the Kent & Sussex Hospital in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, noticed the humiliating snaps, some of which included blood being wiped up and nurses' bottoms.

"I couldn't believe it. It could've been me on that operating table. It is humiliating and wrong," said the patient's relative who first spotted the pictures.

Maidstone MP Ann Widdecombe was equally shocked, "It is inappropriate, particularly when patients were feeling so vulnerable. It shouldn't happen," she said.

The trust said that the nurse who made the V-sign as well as the worker who posted the inappropriate snaps were fired from their jobs.
