Over 500 Cases of Burn Injuries Caused by Fire Crackers in Delhi

The highest number of burn cases were reported from south Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, while Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital attended to almost 150 cases.

 Over 500 Cases of Burn Injuries Caused by Fire Crackers in Delhi
Delhi saw over 500 cases of burn injuries caused by fire crackers on Diwali. A five-year-old boy has died of injuries caused by fire crackers burst on Diwali night, reported doctors in Delhi.
Authorities said, "The boy died of injuries caused by glass pieces that pierced his body while he was watching some boys of his colony burst a cracker in a glass tumbler. The incident took place in Swarupnagar area of northeast Delhi."

A doctor of Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, where the boy was admitted, said, "The injuries were grave as the glass pieces pierced the boy's stomach and eyes."

Another incident was reported from Swarupnagar area of northeast Delhi where a 22-year-old youth died while bursting crackers. However, there was no official confirmation.

The highest number of cases were reported from south Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, while Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital attended to almost 150 burn cases. Lok Nayak Hospital received 45 patients, and 153 burn cases were reported at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
