Australian football legend Jim Stynes is hoping that an experimental drug will help him win his fight against cancer though he admitted that he doubts whether he has any fight left in him to overcome the disease.
Stynes was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and his wife Samantha revealed that she feared she had lost him after the disease took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago. Stynes has been selected as a participant in a trial to test an experimental drug and became the first Australian to receive it.

Explaining the choice, oncologist Grant McArthur said that the 45-year old was selected because of the determination shown by him during the long stretch of treatments and surgery. Stynes knows the drug is risky, but is prepared for it, "Fingers crossed it's going to work because we have tried most other things, but you know that is all part of the journey," he told Herald Sun.

The drug, which is said to be an extension of Ipilmumab, is known to be an immune stimulant and a wider trial will be held for other patients from next year.
