Pak Transgenders Have Equal Rights as All Other Citizens: SC

Pakistan transgenders ca take a breath of relief as the Supreme Court of Pakistan speaks in their favour.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan, while hearing a case regarding transgender rights in the country, has said that transgenders have equal rights as all other citizens of the country, and that they should be given equal basic rights everyone else.

The Express Tribune quoted Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry as saying that transgenders should be given equal inheritance and job opportunity rights, amongst others.

The apex court directed that the decision should be sent to all chief secretaries and that the latter were to attend to the complaints of the transgender community.
