The global merger between Warner-Lambert and Pfizer on the Indian front has run into rough weather due to the legal problems faced by Warner-Lambert’s subsidiary Parke-Davis (India). A local court in Hyderabad has ordered the attachment of its assets located in the city.

The vacation court of the Ranga Reddy district civil courts has ordered attachment of plant and machinery of Parke-Davis (India) following a petition filed by former employees. The management of the company have also approached the same court and pleaded for grant of stay order on the attachment proceedings. The case will come up for hearing on May 29th.

The bone of contention between the employees and the managements is the voluntary retirement scheme. The former employees allege that the management forced them to accept VRS without granting them sufficient time to think on it.

The vacation court has directed the management of Parke-Davis to furnish solvent security against the claim of damages and asked the bailiff to go ahead with the attachment of properties if the company fails to furnish security.
