A new study has found that people often look at the best when viewed from the left side.
A new study carried out by researchers from Wake Forest University in the United States has found that people often look at the best when viewed from the left side. Participants who took part in the study were made to rate the attractiveness of 56 images showing full faces, 56 right sided view of the faces and 56 left sided views. In the report, published in the journal Experimental Brain Research, the researchers wrote that the participants “strongly favored” images that were taken of the left side of the faces.
“Our results suggest that posers' left cheeks tend to exhibit a greater intensity of emotion, which observers find more aesthetically pleasing”, the researchers wrote.
