POCKET To Protect Children’s Privacy

Virginia Research team invents POCKET which safeguards personal information of children’s during web surfing.

Professor Janine Hiller and her team from Virginia have developed a POCKET program which enables the computer to protect and safeguard the personal information of the children. The POCKET (Parental Online Consent for Kids' Electronic Transactions), safeguards the personal information of children’s who are using the internet for web surfing, games and education for which some of the applications may ask for personal information and the children’s may submit the information without knowing the credibility of the website.

Though, children’s online privacy protection act prohibits the website from collecting information from children’s below the age of 13 without parental consent there are websites which does not follow the rule. To overcome these pitfalls, the Virginia research team has devised a user friendly, reliable and cost effective program to enable the parent to protect the child’s personal information during online transaction without parent’s direct involvement.
