Postnatal depression is not just restricted to women, new dads too get hit with the blues.
According to Beyond Blue deputy chief executive Dr Nicole Highet, the growing number of stay-at-home dads, additional financial stress and not being prepared for the full extent of the challenges, make men vulnerable, thereby putting them at increased postnatal depression risk, reports The Couriermail."A lot of men still view depression as a weakness," she told The Advertister.
Post and Antenatal Depression Association Australia chief executive Belinda Horton said: "There's still the misconception that it only happens to women. Men are almost the forgotten sufferers in a way."
