Pot Belly Dangerous Even in Otherwise Healthy People

A new study by the National Institute on Ageing has found that having a pot belly is dangerous even if your weight is within normal limits.

A new study by the National Institute on Ageing has found that having a pot belly is dangerous even if your weight is within normal limits.

Lead researcher Dr Annemarie Koster of the National Institute on Ageing said that overweight or obese individuals are at risk for various diseases, but the main criteria is to keep a watch on the waits. "People should not only look at their weight, but also consider their waist," she added.

The study also found that men who had a high waist circumference were 22 percent more likely to die during the nine-year follow up period as compared to their normal counterparts. This measure held true regardless of their overall weight.
