During a pregnancy check-up, a woman was told that she had two sets of reproductive organs.

Two wombs and two cervixes were found inside Lindsay Hasaj during a customary check up after five weeks of pregnancy. The 27 year old had feared an ectopic pregnancy after she developed abdominal pains, which sent her scurrying to the hospital.

The condition medically called as ‘uterus didelphys’, is rare and is said to afflict one in a million.

Hasaj has a normal single entrance into the vagina which gets divided into two sections internally.

"I was in a cold sweat," she recalled. "I thought they were going to say I'd had a phantom pregnancy or something. Ten minutes later, they came back and I was told very matter-of-factly that they could see two wombs and two cervixes."

"'Niggling in the back of my mind was the worry that he would think I was a freak," she said. "It was such a relief when I heard his comforting voice. I knew it would be okay between us. I can't wait to be a mum and I know Tony is going to make the best dad. Because of what has happened, I feel this baby is extra special. I'm incredibly lucky. I'm just happy that I've been given the chance to be a mum at least once."

Mrs Hasaj who is three months into her pregnancy may be put on hormones to support her cervix.
