Preventive Ill-Health Plan Imperative to NHS

by Savitha C Muppala on Mar 18 2007 11:39 AM

Mr. David Cameron is putting his best foot forward with respect to the Conservative health policy, just as preparations are rife for the parties’ annual spring conference in Nottingham.

Mr. Cameron has always reiterated that curtailing health problems like obesity, substance abuse problems and the risk of sexually transmitted diseases is vital to save an ordeal for the NHS.

Kick starting a discussion with shadow health secretary Andrew Lansley at a hospital in Cambridgeshire, Mr. Cameron was obstinate about his plan to divest responsibility of budgets from the primary care trusts. The local directors of public health would in turn be responsible for the budgets.

The Tories felt that a concrete action plan regarding ‘preventive ill health’ is important to retain the support for NHS.
