The egg prices are bouncing back slowly after its steep fall from grace, following the bird flu outbreak in Maharshtra. The promotional campaigns, free bies and on the house access to chicken delicacies have been fruitful, with poultry products is inching itself back onto people’s plates.
The farm-gate prices had recorded an abysmal low of 50 paisa per egg from Rs 1.20 while the chicken prices had hit rock bottom at Rs 15 a kg from Rs 40, immediately after the Maharashtra government announced the bad news confirming bird flu.National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC), have organized a series of ‘free chicken and egg’ rendezvous across the country, to champion the cause of the chicken and the egg. The NECC’s south zone wing, at a recent meeting has brought the farm-gate price per egg to 80 paisa, an increase of 15 paisa since Sunday.All India Poultry Products Exporters Association (AIPPEA) president Singaraj has indicated that the prices will go up to rs 1 in the next week.
The farm-gate chicken prices also rose up marginally to Rs 23 kg from Rs 18.
