Health authorities in British Columbia have launched a probe into thousands of medical scans that were handled by unqualified radiologists.
British Columbia Health Minister Colin Hansen has revealed that the province has launched a probe into thousands of medical scans that were handled by unqualified radiologists. Mr Hansen also apologized for the questionable scan results received by thousands of people, “I want to assure patients and their families that every effort will be made to work with them and answer any questions they may have and to expedite any follow-up tests and care that may be required,” he stated at a news conference.
It has emerged that health officials are looking into thousands of complaints since October about two B.C radiologists, who were not qualified to read scans. Some 3,400 patients in the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser health regions are thought to be affected and health authorities will contact them if required.
Mr Hansen also assured people that the situation would not compromise the health of the involved patients.
