It might be heartening to know for victims of post traumatic stress disorder that certain techniques have made a world of difference in reducing symptoms. Nearly half of the Marines who took part in a combination of healing touch and guided imagery sessions showed reduction in symptoms of PTSD.
The study was conducted among 123 Marines, who returned from deployment to Camp Pendleton between July 2008 and August 2010.
Six sessions over three weeks for 68 of the participants showed positive results. They experienced relief from their traumatic symptoms like nightmares, insomnia, flashbacks as compared to 55 who received normal treatment.
