A university of British Columbia study has pointed out that Canadians with dark skin are more likely to suffer health problems. Skin color was beginning to affect health. For instance, black Canadians with darker skin were four times more likely to say their health was poor.
The results appeared to back earlier research which showed that black Canadians portrayed a greater likelihood of reporting high blood pressure.
Racism was beginning to affect the health of people discriminated on the basis of the color of their skin.
However, more research in this area is required to understand the connection between racism and health.
