It has emerged that over 800 laboratories in Delhi are still using radioactive material without fulfilling the requisite norms

"May 25 was the assigned date for the respective hospitals and pathological labs to reply. But not even a single hospital has responded," a health department official told the paper."The small-scale hospitals and labs that have not even disclosed the nature of radioactive machines in their premises pose a bigger threat than the other hospitals."
The problem is that the machines in the labs are used to get X-ray, ultrasound and treating diseases like cancer. But these machines have to be upgraded periodically after requisite tests to avoid radioactive leakage.
