An Asda poll of 1,000 mothers has found that a staggering 77 percent are struggling to put meals on the table.As a result, two thirds have reduced spending on clothes shopping, and 19 per cent have cut up their credit cards.
More than 60 percent have stopped going out to restaurants and the cinema, and 15 per cent have switched to a cheaper supermarket.
Mothers are terrified that they will be made redundant in the next six months.
The poll found that mothers are drowning under a rising wave of bills.
80 percent said that they were finding it harder to cope with energy bills while a third of mums across the country said they are finding it more difficult to keep on top of mortgage repayments.

"I'm trying to cut back on what I spend because I'm so worried. It's really hard to keep on top of my petrol and energy bills," News of the World quoted her as saying.
