A team from Purdue University has found a novel device which is capable of recording cardiac as well as diabetic developments of a patient. The new device employs a laser technique capable of enabling three dimensional pictures of the arteries which will help gauge the developments in the heart. This device can also evaluate diabetes developments in a victim.
The most important aspect of this technique is that it penetrates into the heart tissue and provides three-dimensional images of arteries. “You would have to cut a cross section of an artery to really see the three-dimensional structure of the plaque”, said Ji-Xin Cheng, an Associate Professor of biomedical engineering and chemistry at Purdue University.
