Feb. 24: The Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph has expressed the need for quality medical education

Feb. 24: The Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph has expressed the need for quality medical education in the country and that the government must not leave any stone unturned to weed out black sheep institutions.

According to the Chief Justice, this is a matter of grave concern to the society, to witness the dwindling nature of medical education. The educationists, professionals, governments and all the stakeholders in the medical education field should take stock to stem the rot, quoting his words. The so called black sheep in the medical education should be treated very sternly with an iron hand, he said.

The Chief justice also expressed concern about escalating medical costs, which has made it unaffordable to the common man. He impressed upon the medical fraternity to always uphold the ethics of their profession and ensure the availability of medical treatment to the common man. He also added that if the doctors exercise some amount of restraint in advising the patients to undergo certain clinical tests in diagnosing diseases the cost of the treatment can be cut down in great measure.
