Marie Boswell, 35, says friends and family are surprised at her son's 'ok' sign that came out quite distinctly in scans taken at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester.

"I've never seen a scan like this before - we love it. I've been keeping it in a book because I want to show it to him when he is older and I've heard they can fade."

Gerry Jackson, lead sonographer at Wythenshawe Hospital said: "It is very unusual to see a baby's thumbs so clearly. It is lovely we have been able to get such a clear image for this lady.
