Rising Popularity of Weight Loss Surgeries in Waikato
Experts in Waikato are of the opinion that a whole lot of residents may be left with no choice other than to go in for weight loss surgery, as most of them are obese.
Mr. Rowan French, Waikato obesity surgeon said, "If a person is lazy, eats rubbish and doesn't exercise they will put on 10-20kg through their middle life, but it is very, very hard to become morbidly obese unless you have the physiology that predisposes you to it".

According to statistics, nearly 12,000 obese people side in the region. This has attributed to the growing popularity of the bariatric unit in the region.
