The death of Ruslana Korshunova, a stunning Kazakh supermodel who once graced the cover of Russian Vogue, has been ruled a suicide by police.

Korshunova was found dead outside her downtown Manhattan building on Saturday afternoon after eyewitnesses described seeing a body plunge from her ninth floor flat.

However, Korshunova's friend Kira Titeneva said that there was no way the model would have killed herself because she was full of life and never appeared troubled.

"There's no way she would have killed herself. She loved life so much," she said.

"She was my best friend. I talked to her [Friday] night and we were talking all the gossip," she added.

The 20-year-old was found dead outside her downtown Manhattan building on June 28 afternoon after eyewitnesses described seeing a body plunge from a balcony.

"All I saw was something moving out of the corner of my eye, and then boom. It sounded like a bass drum when she hit the ground," the New York Daily News quoted Steve Metzger, as saying.

Investigators said there were no signs of a struggle inside Korshunova's apartment and believe she jumped from her balcony, according to a law enforcement source.

And on June 29, police ruled the model's death a suicide.
