Thirty-four year old mother of triplets, Isabel Mason, was really happy after she delivered her babies that she longed for so much. She had also made big plans to purchase a bigger car so she could fit them all. Little did she know at that time that she would be gone forever, even before the babies turned one month old?
Her husband, Paul, 45, recounts the tragedy that befell his wife a year ago, who died following an undetected heart condition. The triplets are now a year old, and her husband says there is not a day that goes by without him thinking of his wife. He feels that the children resemble their mom, both in looks as well as personality.
The triplets, Mattias, Lukas and Sarah, were born on March 2 last year. The mother died just eight days after falling ill at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
An investigation into the reason for her death found that she suffered from a structural weakness of a tissue close to her heart. Doctors tried their best but could not save her life.
A post-mortem examination found that Mrs. Mason died after blood leaked from an artery into the sac around her heart. Though, it is an extremely rare condition, multiple pregnancies might have increased the strain on her heart.
"Isabel was overjoyed to be having a family and introducing the triplets to all the experiences we both loved. Sadly Isabel only had eight days with the triplets between their birth and her unexpected death. As the triplets have grown and their personalities have developed I regularly see so much of Isabel in them. From facial expressions to personality traits such as her characteristically determined happy-go-lucky mischievousness. Sadly she didn't have the opportunity to watch her children grow and introduce them to all the things she enjoyed from her cosmopolitan background. We feel extremely sad to lose Isabel; she has left a huge gap in all our lives,” Paul said.
