Americans must limit their consumption of salt, especially people in the high risk category – victims of diabetes, chronic kidney disease and high blood pressure.

Sadly, despite al the advice, nearly 90% of those advised to consume less than 1,500 mg of salt per day do not pay heed.
The main reason behind high sodium intake is that people are unaware about its effects or they are just not concerned enough. Nearly 62% are completely oblivious to any guidelines that may exist about sodium intake.
The American Public Health Association has pressed the Food and Drug Administration to begin regulating sodium in the food supply within a year, and aim to cut it by 75% in the next decade.
