Save Environment Campaign in Himachal Pradesh

Himachal's Environment Department and a non-profit organisation 'Development Alternative' organised a daylong meet to discuss environmental-related issues here on Sunday.

During the meet, over 600 representatives from various organizations across the state took part to learn about global warming and contribute to environment protection.

As a part of campaign, an 'Environment Awareness Caravan' was also flagged off.

Officials said they would try to generate mass mobilisation on environment issues.

"This is just the beginning. In the first phase we flagged off the 'Public Awareness caravan' for environment campaign...during this caravan our officials will interact with locals of every village and subdivisions that fall under their way and discuss environment issues besides creating awareness on environment," said J. P. Nadda, Environment and Forest Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal urged all sections of the society to lend a helping hand for the noble campaign.

"I am confident that all of us including our officials, workers, media as well as locals would try their best to for the success of this programme because the success of this programme is the success of every citizen and humanity," said Dhumal.
