The study of 2,000 pupils also found that most commonly kids carried books, lunch boxes and gym kits in their schoolbags.The hi-tech gear in the bags included mobile phones, iPods and video game players."These days there is more in a child's school bag than exercise books and an apple for their teacher," said Andrew Lowe of Direct Line. "Everyone knows bringing up children can be expensive but our findings show how quickly costs can add up these days."
The firm advised parents to keep an eye on what their kids take to school as replacing these items could be a costly affair.
