Smoking is reportedly being prohibited on the grounds of unscientific fears, according to a skier who is on a vacation at Utah. The British Medical Journal had already published a report which states that second hand smoke (SHS) does not raise the risk of heart and lung diseases. Most smokers consider the measures as attempts by the powerful antismoking lobby to put an end to smoking altogether.
The Utah Legislature is bei9ng called upon to counter such efforts and not succumb to pressure groups which seek to deny people their basic rights. It has however been conclusively proved that people who smoke definitely run health risks as a result of the habit. In yet another related move, Muslim religious leaders have been called upon to discourage smoking among their community by declaring smoking as haram. The incidence of women smoking among Muslims is reported to be very high in countries like Yemen.
