A new poll has found that family breakdown and the decline in marriage are the key causes of Britain's serious social problems. More than half, 55 percent, said that their local community is plagued by broken families and crime.
The survey found that nearly 60 percent said that over the past few decades, marriage has become less important and that is a cause of the problems.
Most, 89 percent, agree better parenting and stronger families are the key to mending the broken society, Daily Express reports.
The YouGov survey was commissioned for think-tank the Centre for Social Justice.
"Simply throwing more money at social problems is not enough and can even be counter-productive," Christian Guy, managing director of the CSJ, said.
