Severe Paucity of General Practitioners in Australia

The land of the Kangaroos is getting known for its severe dearth of general practitioners, further substantiated by recent research in this area

The land of the Kangaroos is getting known for its severe dearth of general practitioners, further substantiated by recent research in this area. Australia is in the throes of a severe GP crisis.

The research published in the Medical Journal of Australia has revealed the current trend of Doctors, gravitating to specialist sectors, which if analyzed over a six year period, would leave the GP sector lean and totally understaffed.

Dr Catherine Joyce from Monash University expressing concern said "We really need to start thinking more broadly about what we in Australia currently think about as general practice services. Our modeling shows that simply training more GPs in not going to address this problem."
