Researchers at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand discovered that sex gave the maximum pleasure to adults, added meaning to their lives, and made them the happiest. Sex was also found to be the most engaging among all other activities carried out during the day.
During their study, researchers asked subjects three times a day and over a week about what activity they were doing and how they felt about it. The respondents revealed their responses and level of fulfillment via text messages from their cell phone.
Among thirty distinct types of activities that came up in the response, sex seemed to top the list as the one activity which gave them the maximum happiness. The second activity was drinking, though in terms of adding meaning to their lives, it was ranked tenth.
People were happy to do work that paid them and felt it added meaning to their lives.
