A Norwegian study has discovered a connection between genetic factors and drug abuse saying that genetic tendencies play a significant role in the use of drugs.
Dr. Kenneth S. Kendler, who has led the research, said "This is the first study to show the importance of genetic factors in a culture/country (Norway) with rather low rates of drug problems. It has been suggested that in such countries, social rather than genetics factors should prove to be most important. Our results do not support that hypothesis."Kendler and his team came to this conclusion after interviewing 1,300 Norwegian pairs of adult twins regarding the manner of drug use till date. The findings suggest a strong link between genetic factors and the risk of drug abuse.
