Sishu Bhawan Appoints Gynecologist To Ensure Healthcare To Ailing Mothers
The authorities at Sishu Bhawan have undertaken reforms after the recent incidents in the premises. The most important reform being posting a gynecologist to improve healthcare facilities at the pediatric hospital.
Authorities have announced free treatment for patients up to one years of age. Facilities at the laboratory and blood storage unit have been streamlined. The hospital has taken initiative to ensure healthcare facilities to the ailing mothers, who accompany their sick newborn babies to the hospital. It was a longstanding need of the patients.

"A gynecologist from SCB Medical College and Hospital is deployed at Sishu Bhawan to provide treatment to the ailing mothers," said Siddartha Das, principal of the medical college. Sick newborns from across the state are rushed to the referral hospital (Sishu Bhawan) immediately after birth and their mothers also develop complications.

"As my baby developed breathing trouble after birth, he was referred to Sishu Bhawan. When I arrived at the hospital my stitches were still fresh and I was in pain. But it was not possible for me to leave my child in the ICU and go for treatment to SCB. The new arrangement will definitely benefit others," said Pravati.

The number of bed in neonatal ICU have been increased from nine to 16. The Sishu Bhawan is functioning with 98 doctors. A helpdesk has also started while a special grievance redressal system has been made functional to answer the queries of the patient's relatives.
