Soccer Win More Important Than Birth Of First Child For Men: Survey

A new survey has revealed that football crazy men shed more tears of joy over their team's win than on the birth of their first child.

And one in ten have admitted that England winning the Euro 2012 championship will mean more than their wedding day.

South Africa's premier holiday destination Cape Town bore the brunt of recession with fewer tourists, but is now getting ready for Africa's first football World Cup.

According to research 15 percent of male soccer addicts are more moved by their team's cup or league win than their child's first steps or first day at school.

And younger men confessed watching their team play took precedence over having sex or keeping their partner happy.

With just 24 hours to go before the tournament kicks off, a study by electrical chain Comet found a third of men would happily do chores like the washing up in a trade-off to watch England games uninterrupted.

One in five said that they would have dinner with the in-laws in order to have full access to the remote control during the big game.

And one in ten even offered to give up beer if it meant they wouldn't be nagged to do jobs around the house or have to put up with comments about players' legs while matches were on.

Children Influenced by Behavior of Family and Teachers Rather Than Star Footballers
Children are not influenced by footballers like David Beckham and Wayne Rooney, instead they seem to be influenced by the behavior of teachers, friends and family.

Around 40 percent of men are expected to watch 18 hours of football during Euro 2012 and sports psychologist Martin Perry said the emotional impact of a win was as great as any landmark event in their lives.

"We've all seen men sat with their head in their hands after their favourite team has lost an important football match and this survey really highlights the passion that men can feel towards the beautiful game," the Mirror quoted him as saying.

Football fans who spend hours guzzling beer while watching the World Cup on television may be trying to compensate for not being man enough to play the game, says a new study.

"For many, the feelings they experience when watching a pivotal match can even overshadow the emotion they feel on some of the biggest occasions in their lives, including the birth of their first child," he added.
