Social Activist Anna Hazare Hospitalized in Pune
Veteran social activist Anna Hazare was admitted to a private hospital in Pune on Saturday. He was hospitalized at the Sancheti Institute for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation for chest congestion and viral fever.
Anna Hazare was brought to the hospital after his close associate and personal medical consultant Dr. Kantilal Sancheti voiced concern on the health of the anti-graft crusader saying he needed to be hospitalized at the earliest.

The 74-year-old activist looked weak and fragile as he was taken inside the hospital on a stretcher.

Dr. Parag Sancheti, Chairman of Sancheti Hospital told mediapersons that his situation was not critical and he would recover in few days.

"Mr. Anna Hazare has been admitted and we have sent him for blood test and ECG is done. No major problems but he requires rest. He has been given antibiotics. We are sure that his condition will stabilize in four to five days time," said Parag Sancheti.

Concerns over Anna's health have been mounting ever since he went on a three-day fast to press his forum's demand for a strong and effective Lokpal (Ombudsman) body at Mumbai recently.

The 74-year-old activist was forced to cut short his hunger strike after a team of specialists advised him to start eating again on the second day of his fast, citing low blood pressure, weakness and threat to his kidneys.

Ever since he ended the fast, an ailing Hazare has been recuperating and resting in Ralegan Siddhi and this was after weeks and months of intense traveling, public speeches, press conferences and meetings in his crusade against corruption.
