Spotting Health Threats With Optical Biosensor
A novel optical micro device from a UK company, Stratophase, brings hope in detecting bacterial and viral antigens.
The core of this device is a SpectroSens chip, which helps in finding pathogens and biochemicals. The chip when loaded into a device can spot 16 separate health threats.

The company had initially tested this device on MS2 viruses, albumin protein, Bacillus atrophaeus (BG) spores, and Escherichia coli cells.

This device is not cumbersome to transport and is a boon for on-site monitoring. The device will be best suited in security and defense operations and in medical diagnostics.
