Stem cell therapy can be used for treating deaf using embryonic stem cells generated from ear cells
Researchers from Sheffield University are in the hope of using stem cell therapy for restoring hearing loss in deaf people by creating embryonic stem cells from the inner ear and regenerating the cells for treatment.
The researchers have tried to regenerate the damaged cell by using sensory nerve cells and make them divide into required cell, which has lead to repairing of deafness. Researchers feel that the research in ear stem cell regeneration is in its infant stage and it could take more than 10 years for complete cure to deafness using stem cell therapy.
