Imbalance in sex hormones and increase in obesity may have led to an increase in cases of men having boobs. Called as man boobs, statistics show that many men have no qualms going under the knife to remove excess tissue growth.
This condition is medically termed as gynaecomastia and is now common among thousands of men in UK.
Statistics from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons reveal that nearly 790 men underwent the procedure to remove their 'moobs' in 2011. The numbers were just half five years ago.
Indeed, many men who are victims of this condition are quite embarrassed about it. While the overriding opinion links the cause of this condition to obesity, there are also other causes such as an imbalance of the sex hormones oestrogen and testosterone. Certain medications like antidepressants, heart and liver pills can also trigger this condition.
