Swine flu death toll reached 302 in Gujarat with 172 new cases reported across the state on Wednesday.
The death toll due to swine flu reached 302 in Gujarat with 10 more deaths reported in the state on Wednesday. A total of 172 new swine flu cases were reported across the state, taking the total number of positive cases to 5,065. Ahmedabad and Kutch reported two deaths each and one death each from Gandhinagar, Surat, Banaskantha, Patan and Sabarkantha. Ahmedabad recorded highest number of death due to swine flu in Gujarat with 87 deaths and 1,656 cases till date.
Also, the highest number of swine flu cases reported from Ahmedabad (90), followed by Surat (12), Jamnagar (8), Vadodara and Rajkot (7 each), Mehsana and Bhavnagar (6 each), Sabarkantha (5), Banaskantha and Patan (4 each), Kutch, Gandhinagar, Amreli and Junagadh (3 each).
Gujarat Health Minister Shankar Chaudhary said, “The government has taken strong precautionary measures against Swine flu. The arrangements are in place for immediate and free treatment. The door-to-door awareness campaign has also been launched and enough medicine stock is available in state, including those with private medical shops.”
Minister Chaudhary and Speaker Ganpat Vasava also tested positive for swine flu. Sources said that both of them have shown immediate improvement and recovered. The vulnerable section affected by H1N1 virus included children, senior citizens and pregnant women.
