Latest research proves that popping vitamin pills won’t help ward off heart disease .Researchers analyzed the role vitamin supplements play in reducing the oxidative stress thought to play a part in heart disease.

After analyzing previous studies on the topic, researchers could not find enough evidence in the studies to recommend taking vitamin supplements to treat or prevent heart attacks or strokes. Instead, researchers suggest eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables as diets high in fruits and vegetables are associated with decreased risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Researchers reviewed 20 studies on various antioxidant vitamins, such as vitamins C and E and beta carotene. While a few of the studies did show a beneficial effect on heart disease among the participants, the vast majority showed no effect at all, and several actually showed a harmful effect.

Thus researchers suggest individuals go slow on vitamin consumption until further studies are done to clarify the role oxidative stress plays in heart disease.
