The spread of bird flu into central europe has authorities worried and has them searching for answers to stop the spread.
In Denmark there are now confirmed reports of nine more cases of the deadly H5N1 strain of the bird flu virus in ducks, the confirmation was given by the country's veterinary authorities, two days after nine tufted ducks were found to be H5-infected. The press reports states that the ducks were found in the South of the country in the town of Aeroeskoebing, on the island of Aeroe.
Authorities in Denmark also confirmed that following the tests they have set up a 3-km quarantine zone and a 10-km surveillance zone around where the infected bird was found.There are reports with these outbreaks the European Union experts have resumed talks on how to effectively reduce and stop the spread of the fast-multiplying outbreaks of bird flu, which amid warnings off more cases to be expected are now reaching to the heat of Europe. They plan to introduce a global ban on imports of untreated feathers and are expected to speed up the procedure to impose protection zones around new outbreaks.
In Europe, the presence of highly pathogenic form H5N1 that can be fatal to humans -- has been confirmed in Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Austria, Italy, Germany and the European part of Russia. Other countries still investigating possible outbreaks include Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Ukraine.
