A Perth-based academic insight into the blessings of breast milk has conveyed that infants who feed on mother’s milk for over 6 months experience sound mental health during their growing years.

Analyzing the growth and development of 2500 Australian children for 16 years, the study found that children who were breastfed for more than six months had remarkably reduced hostility and unsocial manners, and were found to handle the ups and downs of life with poise. There were lesser rates of depression and anxiety as they advanced in life.

Enunciating the benefits of breast milk for all-round wellbeing of the child, the researchers encouraged mothers to continue to breast feed children without any reservations. Researcher Wendy Oddy said, "Mothers need a lot of support for breastfeeding so I think it has become a community and a social issue that really mothers need to be encouraged and supported to breastfeed.
